When you find yourself unsure where to go for your next adventure abroad, sometimes you gotta hand over the keys to the experts.
Even seasoned travelers like us here at Travel Off Path can’t make up our mind sometimes — I was supposed to be flying to South Korea today, but ultimately decided on Finland. Such is life…
We’re constantly on the prowl for inspiration, and this time we found some incredible ideas you might not expect when planning an epic trip to Asia.
Between globally renowned cities, hidden beach paradises, and perhaps Asia’s trendiest destination given its new airport, we’ve slapped our Travel Off Path stamp of approval on the following 4 Asian destinations that must be visited for 2026!
If you want to find which one fits your vibe the best, use our revealer at the bottom of the article.
4) Dubai Is Never A Bad Idea
Sometimes the words “Middle East” are tied in with some of the world’s forbidden no-go zones, but that’s not the case at all for Dubai.
One of the world’s most eye-popping metropolises is safe at all hours, well-connected, astoundingly luxurious, and immaculately clean for a sprawling city.
Additionally, Travel + Leisure ranks Dubai as your 4th-best option for Asia next year, thanks to its unique attractions such as sand dune safaris, buzzing world-class nightlife, surprisingly pristine beaches, and endless shop-til-you-drop malls and souks.
The best time to visit is now through March, before the sweltering desert heat will have you sticking around their famous shopping malls more than planned simply to soak up the A/C.
While Dubai is one of the most futuristic cities on Earth, I personally recommend checking out the Old City — think less glamour and more historic charm with cozy hookah cafes along the action-packed Dubai Creek.
3) Hoi An: Vietnam’s Most Delightful City
If you’ve been to Vietnam, you know there’s never a dull minute in the city center. Whether it’s scooter gridlock, sidewalk overflow, or line-out-the-door noodle shops, this beautiful country’s major cities are a nonstop hub of urban frenzy.
Hoi An, on the other hand, is the idyllic antidote — a riverside retreat where time slows, lanterns glow, and life unfolds at a calmer pace.
Split by the Thu Bon River canal, Hoi An has been dubbed the “Venice of the East”, but instead of striped gondoliers, you’ll find wooden sampan boats led by guides in nón lá hats.
Forget chowing down on spaghetti and instead savor piping hot bowls of soulful Pho, a Vietnamese staple common at night markets and local hole-in-the-walls.
Hoi An is truly one of Southeast Asia’s most picturesque cityscapes, boasting traditional townhouses, French colonial homes, and narrow alleyways illuminated by strings of Chinese lanterns.
The best time to visit is late winter through mid-spring, and unlike Dubai, you can save a fortune across the board. How about this 4-star villa under $30 per night in February?
2) Goa: India’s Burgeoning Beach Getaway
Let’s be real — if you’ve somehow stumbled upon India-Tok like my algorithm has forced me into, you might think “India” and “beaches” are 2 words that don’t belong together.
Goa is the exception to the rule.
In fact, this unsung paradise has particularly grown among the digital nomad community, but it’s seeking more tourists to give it a fair shake.
According to Travel + Leisure, Goa is party central for beachgoers, while also home to quiet enclaves to enjoy the tranquil sea away from the city chaos and “untz-untz” bass-thumping.
Unlike what TikTok and the ‘gram may show you for the rest of India, you can feel safe eating here, especially fresh “catch of the day” seafood.
The best time to visit is now through February. Goa’s hottest month of the year is May.
1) Siem Reap: New Airport Opens World To Ancient Wonders
Truly one of the world’s bucket-list destinations, Siem Reap has been a trek to reach for far too long.
Traffic got off to a slow start, but Cambodia’s crown jewel is now easier to reach than ever with a new airport. Unfortunately, there are no direct flights to the U.S. and no rumors to suggest any are impending.
However, those who have had the pleasure of visiting say the journey is worth it. Upon arrival, you’ll find an insanely affordable and welcoming city with incredible (and sometimes bizarre) food and luxurious hotels that won’t dent your bank account.
Of course, Siem Reap’s claim to fame is its UNESCO-protected Angkor Archaeological Park, home to the stunning Angkor Wat temple complex.
Dating back to the early 12th century, this world wonder is one of Southeast Asia’s most captivating sites.
The best time to visit Siem Reap is now through March, though keep an eye out for security alerts as Thailand and Cambodia have found themselves in an on-and-off squabble, creating uncertain safety concerns.
