JOIN MY Mount Wilhelm climb expedition, Papua New Guinea’s Highest Mountain
Join me on one of the epic adventures of a lifetime: our Mount Wilhelm climb (4,509m/37,575ft), the highest mountain in Papua New Guinea. I’m also a psychopath, and since I completed the Seven Summits (highest point on every continent) I discovered that some people consider Mount Wilhelm one of the Seven Summits, rather than Puncak Jaya. So, being the autistic box-ticker I am, I have to do it. So let’s do it together!
One of the most remote and exciting peaks in the entire Oceania region. No crowds, no tourist circus, no ski lifts. Just raw jungle, tribal Highlands culture, and one of the most spectacular sunrise summits anywhere on earth It’s challenging, but not technical. If you’re reasonably fit, you can do it. Think of it like Kilimanjaro, but wilder, more authentic, and with way fewer people. LESS THAN 10,000 PEOPLE EVER CLIMBED IT (similar to Everest!).
TLDR? If you can’t be bothered to read and just wanna join, you can do that HERE (DM me on Instagram):

Where is Mount Wilhem?
Mount Wilhelm sits in the rugged Bismarck Range of Papua New Guinea, deep in the Highlands — a world of valleys, villages, and cloud forests. At 4,509m, it’s the highest point in all of PNG, rising above tropical jungle and glacier-fed lakes.
The climb takes you through traditional Highlands communities, rainforest, alpine meadows, and finally a rocky scramble to the summit for sunrise over the entire country. It’s wild, remote, beautiful, and absolutely unforgettable.
Is Papua New Guinea, and the Mount Wilhelm Cimb Safe Now?
Yes. As long as you go with our trusted local team and stick to the plan. PNG’s cities can be rough, but Mount Wilhelm is in a controlled, rural, community-run area that depends on trekking tourism.
Our itinerary is tightly managed:
- airport pickups
- private transfers
- registered local guides
- community guesthouses
- controlled access to the mountain
You’re not wandering Port Moresby alone at 2am. You’re in the mountains, with local people who grew up here and know every inch of the trail.
How About the PNG Visa?
Super easy. Papua New Guinea now offers e-visas online for most nationalities, and the process is quick and straightforward.
- Cost: $50 USD
- Processing time: usually 3–5 working days
- Validity: 30 or 60 days depending on the option you choose
- Entry: You’ll land in Port Moresby, then we connect to the Highlands
We’ll send you the exact instructions, screenshots, and the correct visa category to select. The PNG e-visa portal is simple, but a few fields can be confusing. We’ll walk you through the whole thing so you won’t make mistakes.
Honestly? It’s rustic, even rough, but that’s part of the adventure.
- 4* or 5* hotel in Port Moresby
- Guesthouse in Kundiawa or Goroka (depending on routing)
- Nondal Guesthouse (local Highlands village stay — amazing experience)
- Wilhelm Base Hut by the lakes (communal mountain hut at approx 3,200m. BASIC AF)
It’s basic but comfortable enough. Clean beds, thick blankets, local meals, and the chance to experience PNG village life up close.
