NEW JERSEY – Travelers making their way through Newark Liberty International Airport on Sunday experienced ground delays of up to 90 minutes following a ground stop that was issued earlier in the day.
According to FOX 5 NY’s Meredith Gorman, the ground delay has been lifted, and flights are taking off on time now.
What we know:
An FAA Command Center alert issued at 1:58 p.m. announced a ground stop for Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) due to traffic volume. The restriction ran from 1900Z to 2000Z — or 2 to 3 p.m.
Facilities included in the stop spanned multiple regional control centers and Canadian airports, signaling a broad impact.
After 4 p.m., the ground stop was downgraded to a ground delay for several hours.
Passengers were told to check directly with their airlines for updated information on flight status.
